چکیده

Advances in computing technology have allowed researchers across many fields of endeavor to collect and maintain vast amounts of observational statistical data such as clinical data, biological patient data, data regarding access of web sites , financial data, and the like. Brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) segmentation is a complex problem in the field of medical imaging despite various presented methods. MR image of human brain can be divided into several sub-regions especially soft tissues such as gray matter, white matter and cerebrospinal fluid. Although edge information is the main clue in image segmentation, it can’t get a better result in analysis the content of images without combining other information. The segmentation of brain tissue in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is very important for detecting the existence and outlines of tumors. In this thesis , an algorithm about segmentation based on the symmetry character of brain MRI image is presented. Our goal is to detect the position and boundary of tumors automatically. Experiments were conducted on real pictures, and the results show that the algorithm is flexible and convenient.

Brain Tumor segmentation for MR images using Clustering

In this paper, we propose a novel brain tumor segmentation method using symmetry features based on the clustering for the 3D MR brain image. First, a symmetry axis of brain slice is approximated and the slice is classified into one of 2 classes, tumor slice and normal slice, through analysis of bilateral symmetry feature using clustering method. Second step of our method is processed to clarify...

Detection of Glioblastoma Multiforme Tumor in Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Based on Support Vector Machine

Introduction: The brain tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue in the brain, which is one of the most important challenges in neurology. Brain tumors have different types. Some brain tumors are benign and some brain tumors are cancerous and malignant. Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is the most common and deadliest malignant brain tumor in adults. The average survival rate for peo...

Automatic Bilateral Symmetry (Midsagittal) Plane Extraction from Pathological 3D Neuroradiological Images

Most pathologies (tumor, bleed, stroke) of the human brain can be determined by a symmetry-based analysis of neural scans showing the brain's 3D internal structure. Detecting departures of this internal structure from its normal bilateral symmetry can guide the classi cation of abnormalities. This process is facilitated by rst locating the ideal symmetry plane (midsagittal) with respect to whic...
